Pantelleria has witnessed the passage of several populations such as the Sesi, the Phoenicians, the Carthaginians, the Romans and the Byzantines: each of these dominations has left its sign on the island. Through the archaeological excursion it is possible to visit the fascinating archaeological sites of Pantelleria, thus retracing the past and the history of the Black Pearl of the Mediterranean. The first stop-over of the tour is among the monuments of the Neolithic Tombs called Sesi, dating back four millennia ago. The excursion continues towards the Acropolis of S. Marco, that includes in its ruins dwellings, sacred places, colonnades and defensive walls. Finally, the tour ends with the Byzantine church of the Madonna del Rosario and the Byzantine Necropolis.
